moving again!

our pod arrived! we had a 3 hour window of when it would be delivered.. so we went swimming in the pool for a half hour and then it arrived. it's pretty cool how they pick it up and drop it off all with a motorized frame that's not even connected to the truck.

we'll be doing the real move-in tomorrow morning... wish us luck. it'll be great to feel settled with all of our own stuff..

The plant life here in California is pretty wild! I especially loved the strange pod sprouting flowers and leaking red juice!

that's from the del taco in barstow. oliver asked the lady that worked there why everything they made looked like the pictures.. he wondered why his tacos were the best ever. she said that the barstow del taco was the first. the original.

well, i've been reminded to post an update as to what oliver and i are actually doing.. oliver left his job at avalanche/disney interactive and joined the ranks at blizzard entertainment.. he's an artist for video games. (there's no relevance to the snow theme). i've spent the last couple of years as a nurse and recently got into graduate school for nursing anesthesia.

we're still getting settled in here in california. i went to the library today and also joined a great online site: www.goodreads.com. it lets me see what books my friends are reading and how they like them. if you're a member let me know.

First week & first day of work

Last Tuesday we went to Disneyland... we really tested out the GPS and made it take us there WITHOUT the freeway. you'd be surprised what lies on the other side of the magic kingdom.. i don't recommend visiting it on purpose. Anyway, we took a ride on California Screamin' ... which was pretty sweet.. but with all the rest of the lines and everything we didn't ride anything else.

We did, however, discover that there is ONE place that has Chase ATM's in all of California (Chase is our lame bank). That place is Disneyland. No branches, just an ATM. we're currently in the process of switching... which has been a pain.

Otherwise, we've found a place to live.. the honeymoon of the company-paid furnished apartment is almost over (see below). Don't get me wrong, it'll be so great to have all our stuff and finally feel settled.. but paying for it is another story!



Oliver had his first day at work. He called after being there for two hours just to tell me he got a bunch of free games and a t-shirt. What a great job!

so, we packed it in and moved to california!
we bought a new car, it's a Honda Fit, a tiny sub-compact that can hold everything & gets good gas mileage.. + it's super cute.




(and that was one of the smaller loads...)
we put a bunch of stuff in storage and drove on out.. taking a brief stop in vegas.. which was obviously worth it. check out the goggles.

we went to the body show at the tropicana and kept west! made it to california... found our new temporary home. we also bought a nuvi gps and it's been SO helpful. it tells us how to get to where we're going... which is usually the beach.
